Biography

Pamela Leggett has been teaching sewing to adults and children since 1981. Specializing in serger techniques, pattern fitting, and fine garment skills, she has developed a fun and informative teaching style that is now available in her new pattern line, Pamela's Patterns.

Pamela is a contributing author for Threads magazine, where she has written several how-to articles on working with sergers, and an in-depth look at elastics. She is also called upon to answer reader questions.

While working for a Janome dealer, Pamela developed a large Janome Club, taught repeatedly at Janome Institute and contributed to Janome Digest. She also appeared in a video with Martha Pullen, Heirloom Sewing the Janome Way.

One of Pamela's passions is creating garments that flatter and fit the wearer. Her desire to teach others to achieve the perfect fit led her to the Palmer/Pletsch pattern fitting method, which she has used to help hundreds of women successfully achieve good fit and a renewed love of garment sewing. Over the years, Pamela has had a thriving bridal and alterations business, produced a line of custom clothing, owned a boutique, and made stage clothing for musicians.

Pamela's Patterns have been reviewed and featured in Threads and Sew News Magazines, Sawyer Brook Distinctive Fabrics, PatternReview.com, and Nancy's Notions Catalogue. She is speaker and instructor for many American Sewing Guild events. .

Pamela lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband Bill, who also plays a big role in Pamela's Patterns. Between the two of them, they have two young and two adult children, all who have contributed to the business. Pamela is a manager and instructor at Steve's Sewing, Vacuum, and Quilting in King of Prussia, PA.
